Who is this "American Woman in Pakistan" and why is she all over social media?
Onijah Andrew Robinson is a 33-year-old American woman who reportedly traveled to Pakistan to marry a 19-year-old she met online .

Robinson had reportedly flew to Karachi in October 2024 to marry 19-year-old Nidal Ahmed Memon.
She had apparently catfished Memon using filters that made her look like a blonde white woman when she is, in fact, Black, according to a Pakistani TikToker who has been translating the story into English.

When Robinson arrived at Memon’s house, Memon's mother was apparently shocked by the relationship, locked Robinson out and left with the entire family.

Robinson was then left in Karachi and proceeded to camp outside Memon's apartment.
After local media started covering her story, Robinson was noticed by a Pakistani philanthropist named Ramzan Chhipa, who has been reportedly trying to help her return to the US.

However, Robinson refused to leave and instead started holding press conferences on the streets of Karachi over several months.
In one press conference with Chhipa, Robinson said her plan is to reconstruct Pakistan and she needed US$100,000 to do so.
She also said she is now from Pakistan and that she and Memon were already married and are expecting a baby, whom they planned to have in Dubai, even though there are no reports she is pregnant.

Later, the Daily Mail reported that a man claiming to be her son posted a now-deleted video, saying that his mother has bipolar disorder and that he was trying to get her back to the US.
Since then, Robinson has become an internet sensation known as the "American Woman In Pakistan".
On Friday Feb. 9, Pakistani police said Robinson had boarded a flight back to New York, according to local newspaper Dawn .
As Robinson’s bizarre three months journey comes to an end, people online are praising Pakistanis for their hospitality and kindness during her time there.
