Before Israel Murdered Him, Journalist Anas Al-Sharif And His Daughter Had Talked About Not Leaving Gaza
“No, I want to stay in Gaza.”

A heartbreaking video has resurfaced showing beloved Al Jazeera journalist Anas Al-Sharif, who Israel assassinated on Aug. 10, and his daughter, rejecting Trump’s plan for Gaza and vowing to remain in Gaza.
In early February, US president Donald Trump had said the US will “take over” and “own” Gaza to achieve peace in the region, suggesting that the some two million Palestinians should be expelled from Gaza and move to other countries like Egypt and Jordan.
In a video posted on Feb. 12, Sharif asked his four-year-old daughter, Sham, whether she wanted to leave Gaza.
“No, I want to stay in Gaza,” Sham replied. When asked why, she said, “Because I love Gaza.”
Sharif then goes on to ask her if he should take her to Qatar, Jordan, Egypt or even Turkey, to which she replies “no”.
“We are not leaving,” she said.
“We’re steadfast here,” Sharif added.
During Israel’s genocide in Gaza, Sharif stayed in the north, providing steadfast coverage and documenting Israel’s crimes in the Strip.
In another video, Sham had said she was scared for her dad because of the bombing, pleading for the war to end.
Sharif was murdered by Israeli forces along with Al Jazeera’s correspondent Mohammed Qreiqeh, camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moamen Aliwa, along with freelance journalist Mohammad Al-Khaldi.
