An Australian politician has gone viral for signing off his political career in the most iconic Aussie way possible, by doing a “shoey” right in Parliament.

Kyle McGinn, a 37-year-old Western Australian MP, concluded his final day in Parliament on May 22 after serving two terms..

After giving his farewell speech, McGinn opened a can of beer, poured it into his shoe and drank from it - a moment that gained widespread attention online.

Known as a “shoey”,  the act involves drinking from a shoe and is typically performed in Australia as a celebratory gesture, particularly at sporting events or public performances.
