This Brazilian Man Ran On Stage And Smashed A Pageant Winner’s Crown After His Wife Came Second Place
Just as the host was about to place the crown on the winner’s head, the runner-up’s husband ran onto the stage, grabbed the crown and violently threw it to the ground.
A man invaded a beauty pageant in Brazil and smashed the winner’s crown after his wife came in second place.
The incident happened at the Miss Gay Mato Grosso 2023 pageant in Brazil on Saturday May 27, when Nathally Becker, who was representing the city of Cuiabá, lost to Emannuelly Belini, who was representing the municipality of Várzea Grande.
Miss Gay Mato Grosso is the LGBTQ version of the Miss Mato Grosso pageant, which is held annually to select a representative for Mato Grosso, Brazil’s third largest state.
In the video, the two pageant contestants were seen standing facing each other as the crown hovered above them.
After Belini is announced the winner, both beauty queens proceed to hug each other.
Just as the host was about to place the crown on Belini’s head, Becker’s husband ran onto the stage, grabbed the crown and violently threw it to the ground.
He then tried to drag his wife off the stage, before picking up the crown and smashing it a second time.
Becker’s husband was eventually escorted out by security.
Video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
The organizer of the pageant released a statement condemning Becker’s husband’s behavior, saying he “did not consider the result to be fair and caused all this inconvenience and damage”.
“We confirm the pageant jury’s choice and we sympathize with the elected Miss, as well as [Becker], as she is not responsible for the crazy attitudes of third parties,” the statement read.
It said that the pageant’s legal team has been informed and will take the “necessary legal measures”.
