BTS Has Finally Made Their Long-Awaited Comeback After A Four Year Hiatus With A Massive Free Live Concert In Seoul
Fans both in Seoul and online said the concert was emotional, with many calling it a long-awaited reunion after years of uncertainty during the group’s hiatus.
K-pop boy band group BTS has officially signaled the end of its four-year hiatus with a massive “Comeback Live” concert at Gwanghwamun Square in the capital, Seoul..
BTS had paused group activities while all seven members — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook — completed South Korea’s mandatory military service.
The concert on Saturday, March 21, came one day after the release of their new album, “ARIRANG,” named after Arirang, a traditional Korean folk song often associated with themes of separation, longing and national identity.
The concert was free and open to the public, with the performance also streamed globally online on Netflix.
The event was expected to attract as many as 260,000 people in total, which would have made it the largest public concert in South Korean history.
About 42,000 fans gathered around central Seoul for the event, though only 22,000 ticket holders were able to enter the main viewing area.
During the show, BTS performed their lead single “Body to Body” and debuted multiple new tracks from the album.
Fans both in Seoul and online said the concert was emotional, with many calling it a long-awaited reunion after years of uncertainty during the group’s hiatus.
BTS is next set to perform in Goyang on April 9, marking the beginning of their world tour.
A Netflix documentary, “BTS: The Return,” covering the band’s making of the ARIRANG album, is set to release on March 27.
