People In China Are Lining Up To High-Five This Cat Who Likes Hanging Out Near A Temple

People in China are lining up outside a local temple in Suzhou, China, to touch paws with a friendly tabby cat after she went viral for giving high-five to visitors in March.

The cat, called Tangdou, or sweet bean in Chinese, went viral by chance, according to her human, Mr. Liu. Liu said someone had filmed Tangdou during one of their regular outings to the temple plaza and posted it online.

He said neither of them expected the video to go viral.

Since then, the crowds have kept growing, and Liu said while he appreciates the love, he’s starting to worry about Tangdou’s comfort and safety.

For now, he has decided to stop bringing her to the temple so she can enjoy some peace and quiet.

The original video, posted by the Douyin account “Pet Paradise,” has already received more than 230,000 likes, nearly 30,000 comments and 186,000 shares.

People began posting their own photos with Tangdou and even started sharing cute pics of their own cats giving high-fives, turning it into a full-on online trend.
