With the start of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, this year’s mascot, La’eeb, is receiving significant attention online, especially in China.
La’eeb is Arabic for “super-skilled player”, and the mascot made an appearance at the opening ceremony on Sunday Nov. 20, which also included an appearance by American actor Morgan Freeman and a performance by BTS member Jungkook and Qatari artist Fahad Al Kubaisi.
