China Said It Will Fight Trump "To The End" As The Two Countries Keep Imposing More Tariffs On Each Other
China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on April 8 that Beijing will "fight to the end" if the US is persists in disregarding “the common interests of both countries and the international community" with its tariffs.

China has slammed the US for imposing tariffs on its goods, vowing to fight US president Donald Trump to the end in the trade war.
Trump began imposing tariffs on Chinese goods in February, increasing it to 20% in March along with the 25% tariffs he imposed on Canada and Mexico for their role in fentanyl production.
China then retaliated by imposing a 15% tariff on certain US products.
China is the second largest source of imports for the US and the primary manufacturer worldwide for cellphones, toys, computers and other products, according to the New York Times.
On April 2, Trump then announced the US was imposing an additional 34% tariff on Chinese goods as part of his “Liberation Day” speech.
During the speech, Trump outlined his strategy to target dozens of other countries and territories, including the EU, Japan, South Korea and India, with tariffs, to correct what he said was unfair trade practices that disadvantaged American manufacturers and workers.
In response, China announced that it would be imposing its own 34% retaliatory tariff on US goods.
On April 7, Trump then threatened to cancel all meetings with China and impose an additional 50% tariff, set to take effect on April 9, if China didn’t withdraw its retaliatory 34% tariff, bringing the total tariffs on Chinese imports to 104%.
In response to Trump’s threats, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on April 8 that Beijing will "fight to the end" if the US is persists in disregarding “the common interests of both countries and the international community" with its tariffs.
The Foreign Ministry also accused Trump of using “pressure, threats and blackmail” and said China will take all "necessary countermeasures to firmly safeguard its legitimate and lawful rights and interests."
“If the US truly wishes to engage in talks, it should adopt an attitude of equality, mutual respect, and reciprocity,” Lin said.
Trump then said on Wednesday, April 9 that he was increasing tariffs on China to 125% in response to China’s retaliation.
A day later, the White House clarified that the 125% tariff is on top of the original 20% tariff over the country’s role in the fentanyl trade in March, bringing the total percentage to 145%.
On Friday, April 11, China announced that it was raising its own tariffs on American goods to 125%.
