These Chinese White Dolphin Mascots Are So Chaotically Cute People Can’t Stop Watching Them
Inspired by Chinese white dolphins, the mascots, named Xiyangyang and Lerongrong, were created for China’s 15th National Games.
The mascots for China’s 15th National Games have taken over social media with their naughty and cute dance moves.
Inspired by Chinese white dolphins, the mascots, named Xiyangyang and Lerongrong, were created for Games, which are being co-hosted across China’s Greater Bay Area in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.
Their names symbolize joy, harmony and unity.
They were designed based on the Chinese white dolphin, a Grade-1 protected species native to the Pearl River Estuary, with only 6,000 remaining globally.
The dolphins are born dark grey that fades to pale grey, and eventually turn white or appear pink as they grow older, a detail the designers used when choosing the mascots’ colors.
Online clips showed the mascots stealing the spotlight by doing hops, head-spins and funny dances throughout the games’ venues.
It was later revealed that the performers inside the mascots were teenage students from a local martial arts school.
