This Danish Politician Told Trump To “Fuck Off” For Trying To Annex Greenland
“Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for hundreds of years. It is not for sale,” Vistisen said, before adding “let me put it in words you can understand, Mr. Trump, fuck off.”
A resurfaced clip of a Danish member of the European Parliament telling US president Donald Trump to “fuck off” has gone viral after Trump renewed his threats to annex Greenland.
The clip dates back to January 2025, when Anders Vistisen spoke during a debate at the European Parliament on the topic of “the impact of Trump’s presidency on EU-US relations.”
During the session, lawmakers were discussing Trump’s approach to allies, global security and his repeated remarks about taking control of Greenland.
“Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for hundreds of years. It is not for sale,” Vistisen said, before adding “let me put it in words you can understand, Mr. Trump, fuck off.”
Since his first presidency, Trump has repeatedly said he wants to annex Greenland, insisting that complete control of the island is “necessary for national security” rather than for access to minerals.
Denmark’s prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, has called onTrump to “stop his threats,” saying the US has no right to annex Greenland or any other part of the Danish realm.
On Jan. 13, in a joint press conference with Frederiksen, Greenland prime minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said that Greenland is not for sale and that if it had to, it would choose Denmark.
Since then, leaked reports have shown plans from the Trump administration to give the people of Greenland between US$10,000 to US$100,000 to break with Denmark.
Massive protests erupted over the weekend of Jan. 17 to 18 in Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, as well as in Denmark’s Copenhagen, Aarhus and Odense, with protestors holding signs reading “Greenland is not for sale” and “Hands off Greenland.”
