AJ+’s Managing Editor Dima Khatib Says Journalists In Gaza Are Being Targeted For Reporting The Truth And It Needs To End
“Everything I’ve done in my life, over 30 years of journalism, is nothing like what we’re living in Gaza today.”
“Everything I’ve done in my life, over 30 years of journalism, is nothing like what we’re living in Gaza today.”
Since Israel launched its genocide in Gaza on Oct. 7, at least 108 journalists have been killed.
That’s almost two journalists killed a day, making it the deadliest period for journalists since the Committee of Journalists (CPJ) started to record data.
Speaking to Almost at UNESCO's World Press Freedom Day event in Santiago, Chile, AJ+’s managing director, Dima Khatib, spoke of the heavy toll journalists in Gaza have had to pay for reporting the truth.
“Journalists are targeted because they are trying to inform everyone about what’s going on in Gaza,” she said, calling on everyone to raise awareness about the issue so that the impunity can be ended once and for all.
