Israel Has Finally Released A Video Of The Director Of Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital It Detained After Two Months
Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya was not seen after a video showed him walking alone toward an Israeli military vehicle after the Israeli military raided Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza.

Israeli media have released a video of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in north Gaza, in Ofer Prison in the Israeli-occupied West Bank after arresting him in December 2024.
The video released on Wednesday, Feb. 19, showed Abu Safiya with both hands and feet cuffed and escorted by prison guards as they were taking him out of his cell.
An Israeli reporter then asked Abu Safiya if he knew why he was detained in prison.
“I don’t know, I don’t know, I swear, I don’t know,” Abu Safiya said.
He said that he was a pediatrician and he was working as the hospital director of Kamal Adwan for a temporary period, adding that everything he did was in coordination with the Israeli army.
Before the release of this video, Abu Safiya was last seen on Dec. 27, 2024, when Israeli forces stormed Kamal Adwan which it had been besieging for weeks prior and arrested Abu Safiya, who had refused to leave his patients.
Abu Safiya was not seen again after a video showed him walking alone toward an Israeli military vehicle after the Israeli military arrested staff and forced patients to strip to their underwear and leave the hospital before setting the building on fire.
His arrest led thousands of doctors and medical workers worldwide as well as human rights organizations calling for the release of Abu Safiya.
More than 1,400 people have signed a petition asking for his release, pointing out that medical facilities and workers are protected under international law.
Following the release of the latest video, Abu Safiya’s family said in a post on his X account that the video is a “form of psychological terrorism, adding to the torture he has endured over the past two months.”
“The sight of our father shackled and unable to move should prompt immediate and continuous action to ensure his immediate release,” they added.
His son had said in a video earlier that Abu Safiya is being tortured and abused in prison.
