While NATO Secretary General and former Dutch president Mark Rutte referring to US President Donald Trump as “daddy” sparked controversy, another moment between Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and Trump is also making headlines.

During a press conference at the 2025 NATO Summit in The Hague, the Netherlands, on Thursday, June 26, the queen was caught appearing to mock Trump’s way of talking.

While posing for photos, Trump stood between King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, giving his signature thumbs-up and smiling at the cameras.

“That’s the picture we want,” Trump said cheerfully, before King Willem said, “I hope you slept well.”

Just as the president responded with a “Thank you,” Queen Máxima was seen looking at Trump before turning away appearing to tighten her mouth, purse her lips and flick her tongue, a split-second expression that immediately caught people’s attention online.

The moment quickly went viral on social media.

“Queen Máxima mocking Trump to his face during a NATO summit? Legend,” one person joked.

Some people defended her, saying it was probably a natural reaction or her mouthing something in Dutch.
