This Italian Mom Speed Skater Almost Retired But Then Broke A Record And Gave A Cute Interview With Her Son

Italian speed skater Francesca Lollobrigida, who almost retired due to challenges to get back in form after taking maternity leave, made history at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, becoming the first Italian woman to win an Olympic gold medal at speed skating and gave a cute interview with her son.
Lollobrigida not only delivered Italy its first gold of this year’s Games, but also set a new Olympic record in the women’s 3,000m on her 35th birthday, with a time of three minutes and 54.28 seconds.
Her young son Tommaso captured people's attention in the moments that followed.
During her post-race interview, cameras caught Tommaso's playful antics, tugging at Lollobrigida’s headband and gently grabbing her face, trying to “shush” her as she was talking.
The mischievous exchange between mother and son has since gone viral, striking a chord with fans around the world, offering a relatable family moment during the historic moment.
Lollobrigida had stepped away from the sport after the 2022 Beijing Olympics for almost two years on maternity hiatus.
“The message I wanted to show is that I didn’t choose between skating and being a mum. I am really proud of myself that I came back.” she told reporters.
