French Lawmakers Held Up Posters Of Children Killed In Gaza In Parliament To Protest France's Complicity

In a show of support for Palestinians in Gaza, a group of left-wing French lawmakers protested Israel’s genocide in Gaza by holding up posters of Palestinian children killed in Gaza during a session in parliament.

On Tuesday, April 8, far-left lawmaker Aymeric Caron from La France Insoumise (LFI) party gave a speech during parliament condemning the French politicians’ complicity in supporting Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “fascist” government.

“Gaza is turning into a concentration camp where the level of barbarity deployed by the Israeli army is such that we must speak in approximations to describe the toll of the ongoing genocide,” Caron said.

He said that recent history has not seen children “massacred” with such “sadism”.

He added that French politicians who had welcome Israeli ministers and failed to impose any sanctions on Israel are accomplices”.

Just a day earlier on April 7, France allowed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plane to pass over its airspace as he flew from Hungary to the US, despite him facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes and crimes against humanity against Palestinians in Gaza.

“If there are so many accomplices here, it's because the lives of Palestinian children matter less to you than the lives of other children in the world. To you, they are just approximations, but to us, they are our children,” Caron said.

Caron then held up a photo of Bisan Al-Hindi, a Palestinian girl who was killed after an Israeli bomb hit her tent while she was sleeping.

Other party members then began holding up photos of other children who had been killed by Israel’s relentless attacks on Gaza.

The president of the National Assembly was then forced to suspend the session in response to the protest.

In June 2024, politicians from LFI dressed up in clothing in the colors of the Palestinian flag during another session to protest the parliament banning the Palestinian flag.

The death toll in Gaza has now crossed more than 65,166, including at least 14,222 who are presumed dead or missing under the rubble.
