These Are The Heartbreaking Messages Left By People Trapped In Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital During Israel’s Siege
“If the pain inside of me fell and landed on a mountain, it would collapse it.”
After the Israeli forces withdrew from Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, video has emerged on social media showing the messages people trapped inside the hospital scrawled on its walls during the two week siege.
A video shot by @karamnaji1 showed heartbreaking messages from people and has gone viral online.
Many of the messages were people writing to their mothers, expressing their hope to see them again.
Others described the amount of pain they were enduring.
The rest of the messages were filled with hope – hope to see their families again, hope to get out of the hospital and hope for freedom.
The fate of the people who wrote the messages remains unknown as the Israeli military left the hospitals in ruins and burned.
At least 300 bodies were found in and around the complex, many decomposed, according to Palestinian authorities.
Here are some of their messages.
“Patience, O people of Al-Shifa, for you relief is near. The third siege, for the 11th day 28/03/24.”
“Mom, I miss you. May God will it that. I see you soon. I swear, mom, I love you.”
“If the pain inside of me fell and landed on a mountain, it would collapse it. Oh God, your mercy.”
“Mom, I long for you to wipe away the tears falling on my cheeks.”
“We are accepting what God has written for us, and we will not despair of the coming relief, God willing. From the siege of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Mohamed Sukkar.”
“Dr Basma Daoud: The story has become well known; its title is tears and pain. Inside the heart of a besieged person looking for medication and freedom, God willing.”
“I swear, mom, I am tired, but thank God for everything. By God’s will, we will get out.”
Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza have killed more than 33,000 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children, since Oct. 7.
