The Global Hunger Monitor Has Officially Declared Famine In Gaza City, Entirely Man-Made By Israel
Over half a million people in Gaza are facing “catastrophic conditions characterised by starvation, destitution and death,” with children at the highest risk.

Gaza City is officially in a famine, entirely man-made by Israel, the global hunger monitoring system, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) said on Friday, Aug. 22.
Over half a million people in Gaza are facing “catastrophic conditions characterised by starvation, destitution and death,” with children at the highest risk. The IPC warned that nearly a third of Gaza’s population — about 641,000 people — could soon face the same fate if Israel continues to obstruct aid and destroy infrastructure.
UN chief António Guterres called the crisis a “man-made disaster, a moral indictment, and a failure of humanity itself,” saying: “People are starving. Children are dying. And those with the duty to act are failing.”
