Journalists And Aid Workers In Gaza Have Gone On A Hunger Strike Until All Gaza's Children Have Food To Eat

Journalists and aid workers in Gaza have gone on a hunger strike until Israel stops starving Palestinians in Gaza.
Journalist Wadi’ Abu Suood announced on Sunday July 20, that he, along with a group of other journalists, civil defense and aid workers in Gaza, have gone on a hunger strike called the « Empty Stomach Movement », drinking only water with salt, not by choice but due to Israel’s systematic enforced starvation of Palestinians.
They are calling for unrestricted humanitarian aid access, Israel lifting its blockade and international action to end famine.
“We are on an open hunger strike until the smallest child in the Gaza Strip can eat, » Abu Suood said.
Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal also joined the hunger strike, saying it is not symbolic but an “act of peaceful resistance against slow-motion genocide,” adding that he will not eat until people in Gaza can eat and aid is delivered in a humane way that respects human dignity.
Since March 2, Israel has blocked all aid from entering Gaza, leaving more than 2.3 million Palestinians to starve for more than 80 days and allowed only a “basic” amount of aid to enter, but through the controversial US- and Israeli-backed aid agency, Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
113 people, including at least 80 children, have been killed due to malnutrition in Gaza since Israel began its blockade on Gaza, with 10 killed on Wednesday, July 23, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
Journalists, doctors and aid workers themselves are starving as they struggle to document Israel’s genocide and treat a constant influx of starving and emaciated patients.
Intentionally starving civilians as a method of warfare is a war crime under international humanitarian law.
