Trump And The Leaders Of Qatar, Egypt And Turkey Have Officially Signed The Ceasefire Deal For Gaza

US president Donald Trump and the leaders of Egypt, Turkey and Qatar have signed a document formalizing the first phase of a Gaza ceasefire deal and committing to “lasting peace” after two years of Israel’s genocide.
On Monday, Oct. 13, Trump joined Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Qatar’s emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, alongside a dozen of world leaders including from Germany, Jordan, the EU and the UK at a peace summit for Gaza in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
Trump had reportedly invited Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the summit at the last minute, but the plan was reportedly aborted due to Erdoğan threatening to pull out if Netanyahu attended.
Netanyahu’s office said in a statement that he was unable to attend due to “the proximity of the event to the start of the holiday.”
Hamas was not invited, but the president of the Palestinian Authority , which governs pa the West Bank and East Jerusalem, Mahmoud Abbas was present.
Egypt said the summit aims “to end the war in the Gaza Strip, enhance efforts to bring peace and stability to the Middle East, and usher in a new phase of regional security and stability,” according to Anadolu.
Trump praised the cooperation between countries and said the deal took nearly “3,000 years” to reach.

Trump, Sisi, Erdogan and Sheikh Tamim were seen signing the deal, but no details have been released about its content.
In a joint statement called “The Trump Declaration for Enduring Peace and Prosperity,” the four leaders reiterated their commitment to the peace in Gaza and the Middle East and for both Palestinians and Israelis to get equal rights, safety and security.
During the summit, world leaders reportedly discussed the second phase of the ceasefire deal, which based on Trump’s 20-point plan, could include the demilitarization, deradicalization and reconstruction of Gaza.
Hamas and Israel have only agreed to the first phase of the ceasefire deal, which includes the release of Palestinian and Israeli hostages, the entry of humanitarian aid and the retreat of the Israeli military.
Earlier on Monday, Hamas handed over all 20 living Israeli captives, in exchange to Israel releasing more than 1,700 Palestinians it had detained without charges after Oct. 7, 2023, as well as 250 Palestinians who were convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
Hamas is also expected to return the bodies of the remaining 28 hostages, which some began to be delivered to Israel.
