Hamas’ Spokesperson Said That Israel Has Rejected Its Proposal For A Permanent Ceasefire Again

Netanyahu has repeatedly said that Israel will continue its war in Gaza until total victory, which includes dismantling Hamas and releasing all the hostages.

Hamas’ armed wing spokesperson Abu Obeida has delivered his first speech in four months, saying that Israel had rejected a “comprehensive agreement” proposed by Hamas, which includes the release of all captives held in Gaza in exchange for a permanent ceasefire, Israeli troop withdrawal and humanitarian aid access for Palestinians.

Abu Obeida said on Friday, July 18, that Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government lacks genuine concern for the hostages, particularly because many are soldiers, after Israel unilaterally broke the nearly two-month ceasefire deal on March 18.

Since then, it has killed at least 7,938 Palestinians, including 891 trying to reach aid.

Abo Obeida then warned that if Israel abandons the current indirect negotiations, Hamas will not guarantee a return to partial agreements, such as the 60-day ceasefire proposal under discussion that would release only 10 hostages.

He said that Hamas fighters are “prepared to engage in a prolonged war of attrition” and will continue ambushes targeting Israeli soldiers throughout Gaza, vowing that the resistance would intensify if they don’t reach a comprehensive agreement.

“One of the clearest signs of the Zionist failure in confronting the resistance and breaking our people’s spirit is its resort to dirty solutions, which constitute war crimes, collective punishment, genocide and ethnic cleansing, which are, unfortunately, clearly supported by the US administration,” Abu Obeida added.

He also criticized Arab and Islamic regimes for their “silence” and perceived complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Abu Obeida then warned against Israel’s defense minister’s plan to force all Palestinians in Gaza into “Nazi-style detention camps under false humanitarian labels” on the ruins of Rafah, which experts have condemned as a blueprint for crimes against humanity.

Netanyahu has repeatedly said that Israel will continue its war in Gaza until total victory, which includes dismantling Hamas and releasing all the hostages.

Meanwhile, Israel has also launched a new ground invasion in Lebanon and bombed several parts of Syria on July 16, claiming it is protecting a Syrian minority as it annexes more Syrian lands.
