Hamas launched one of its most intense rocket attacks from Gaza at cities in southern Israel on Sunday, April 6, in response to Israel’s "massacres” of civilians in Gaza.
Videos from the Israeli city of Ashkelon on Sunday night showed sirens going off, flashes of light in the sky and a blast near an apartment building.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu then ordered a "strong response" and called for more intense attacks on Gaza.
A day after the rockets were fired, the Israeli military said it would attack Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza, where the rockets were launched and ordered Palestinians there to evacuate to the south in Al Mawasi.
“This is a final warning before the attack,” the spokesperson said.
On Monday, April 7, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported that Israeli strikes had killed at least 56 people in the last 24 hours.
Israel has been killing dozens of people in Gaza every day since it unilaterally ended the ceasefire on March 18 by launching massive airstrikes on Gaza and killing more than 404 Palestinians in less than 24 hours, according to Al Jazeera.
Since Israel resumed its genocide, it has killed more than 1,449 Palestinians, many of whom are women and children.
