This 11-year-old Indian girl died after she was raped and stabbed and people are demanding justice.

The girl, who is from the low caste, marginalized Dalit community, first went missing on May 26 when she was playing outside her house in the eastern state of Bihar.

Her family members later found her lying injured near a road with nearly 20 knife wounds, according to local media.

She had been allegedly raped by a man who lived near her aunt’s house.

However, her family said when she arrived, the hospital kept her waiting in the ambulance for two to three hours before admitting her, an allegation the hospital has denied.

The girl died of her injuries on June 1.

The news of her death sparked widespread outrage in India and calls for justice.
