Iran’s Supreme Leader Gave A Rare Speech Defending Its Attack On Israel And Saying Israel "Will Not Survive”
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also said Iran's missile attack on Israel was "legal and legitimate" and a "service to all humanity."
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivered a speech in a rare public appearance during a sermon on Friday Oct. 4, after Iran’s huge missile attack on Israel.
The attack on Tuesday, Oct. 1, was in retaliation for Israel’s assassinating Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’ former political leader in Iran, and Hezbollah’s longtime leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in an attack on Beirut, as well as Israel’s deadly attacks in Lebanon and genocide in Gaza that has killed more than 41,825 Palestinians.
In his speech, Khamenei said Iran launching about 180 missiles targeting mostly Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, and two air defense bases, was “legal and legitimate” and a service “to all humanity”.
He delivered his speech in both Farsi and Arabic to address the supporters of Palestine and Lebanon just days before the one year anniversary of Israel beginning its war on Gaza on Oct. 7.
A big part of Khamenei’s speech commemorated Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah and other members of Hezbollah and Hamas killed by Israel.
“When the malicious, cowardly enemy failed to land a successful blow to the strong structure of Hezbollah, or Hamas or Islamic Jihad and other resistance movements, it opted to pretend to win through assassinations, destruction, bombings and killing civilians,” he said.
He added that this behavior only increased the resistance's motivation.
He then continued to say that the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples have the right to defend themselves against Israel and that “Israel will not survive”.
“The Palestinian nation has the right to stand up against the enemy that has occupied its land and home, destroyed its farm and ruined its life; the Palestinian nation has this right,” he said.
He added that the resistance in the region will not back down despite those killed and will be victorious.
Khamenei said that the “root of problems” and wars in the Middle East is Israel, the US and some European countries “who claim that they want peace and tranquility in the region”.
“If Israel removed their evil from this region, without a doubt, these conflicts, these wars, these clashes will disappear completely.” he said.
“This malignant, rootless, fake and unstable entity (Israel) has kept itself standing with difficulty through America’s support and it will not survive, God willing,” he said.
