A leaked document has revealed that Iranian security forces sexually assaulted and killed this teen during the Mahsa Amini protests.
16-year-old Nika Shakarami had attended protests in Tehran on Sep. 20 sparked by Mahsa Amini’s death but then went missing for almost 10 days.
Her family eventually found her body in a morgue at a detention center, but police only let them look at her face for a few seconds. Her nose and skull were allegedly broken.
Her body was then allegedly stolen by authorities and found buried 40 kilometers away.
Her mom later said authorities had killed her daughter, but forced them into saying that she had jumped off a building.
Now a leaked report compiled by Iran’s ideological military force and obtained by the BBC has revealed Shakarami was killed by guards in the van.
According to the report, three officers took Shakarami away in a freezer van, where one officer sat on top of her to stop her from struggling against them.
Another officer then said he saw the officer sitting on top of Shakarami put his hands inside her trousers.
The officer, however, denied this, but admitting that he became "aroused" while sitting on her and touched her buttocks.
The officers then “lost control” after she started fighting back, and the driver later stopped the van and opened the door to find Shakarami had been killed.
The document also implicates senior commanders in trying to cover up the truth of her murder.
