Israel Has Bombed Tents Sheltering Displaced Palestinians At A Hospital In Gaza Again, Burning Them Alive
The airstrike ignited a fire that burned people alive while they were sleeping in the early hours of Oct. 14.
Israel launched an airstrike on tents sheltering displaced Palestinians in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al Balah city in central Gaza, igniting a fire that burned people alive while they were sleeping in the early hours of Monday, Oct. 14.
The attack set fire to several tents, killing four people and injuring at least 70 others, including children with severe burns, according to Gaza’s media office.
A witness said they woke up to find the fire surrounding them.
Videos shared on social media showed a person burning alive with medics and civil defense teams unable to reach them due to the intensity of the fire.
Another video showed people screaming and others trying to put out the fire on a girl who was burning.
This is the seventh time Israel has attacked Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital; it has consistently claimed it is attacking Hamas members embedded in the hospital but without providing evidence.
Israel has conducted at least 498 attacks on healthcare facilities in Gaza, killing 747 people and injuring 969 others since it began its genocide in Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, according to a new UN report.
Hospitals, healthcare and civilian infrastructure are protected under international humanitarian law (IHL), also known as the rules of war.
