Israel Said It Bombed Nasser Hospital In Gaza Twice By Mistake, Adding It Was Targeting A "Hamas Camera”

Many experts and legal scholars have condemned this tactic and view it as a serious violation of international law and potentially a war crime.

The Israeli military said its double-tap on Gaza’s Nasser Hospital, which killed at least 21 people, including 5 journalists, was a “mistake”.

A double-tap strike is a military tactic where a first attack is carried out on a target, and then several minutes later a second strike hits the same location to cause additional casualties by targeting first responders, rescuers, medical personnel and journalists who rush to assist after the initial attack.

Many experts and legal scholars have condemned this tactic and view it as a serious violation of international law and potentially a war crime.

The military gave no explanation for why it bombed the hospital twice and only blamed Hamas.

“The IDF does not intentionally target civilians. Hamas terrorists deliberately use civilian infrastructure, including hospitals as shields,” a spokesperson for the Israeli military said on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Israel has now killed more than 62,895 people in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023.
