The Israeli Military Opened Fire On A Group Of International Diplomats Visiting The West Bank
The delegation, which included representatives from the EU, Arab nations and other countries were assessing the situation in Jenin refugee camp.

Israeli forces have opened fire on a group of diplomats visiting the Israeli-occupied West Bank to investigate Israel’s military operation in Jenin refugee camp.
A delegation of diplomats, including representatives from the European Union, Arab nations and other countries, were on an official mission on Wednesday, May 21, to assess the humanitarian situation in Jenin refugee camp, particularly in light of ongoing and extensive Israeli military operations in the area, which started on January, targeting people, homes and infrastructure and the displacing more than 40,000 Palestinians.
Videos on social media showed diplomats giving interviews before multiple gunshots were fired, forcing them to flee for their safety.
Israeli forces said “it regrets the inconvenience caused,” adding that it fired "warning shots" at the diplomats, claiming that the delegation had deviated from an approved route and entered an area where they lacked authorization.
It added that no injuries or property damage were reported and that it will speak with the diplomats after investigating the incident.
The Palestinian Authority and other officials called the incident a “heinous crime” by Israeli forces, saying it deliberately targeted the delegation.
The attack came just one day after the EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the EU will review its political and economic agreement with Israel due to Israel’s ongoing intensified military offensive in Gaza, as well as its blockade on aid since March 2.
Multiple governments and the United Nations said Israel’s action was “unacceptable,” with Kallas saying that even warning shots were “still shots,” calling on Israel to investigate the incident to hold those responsible “accountable,” Politico reported.
