Israel Has Officially Begun its Long-Planned Full Takeover Of Gaza City And Cut Off All Communications
Israel’s security cabinet approved the full takeover of Gaza City, which it claims is the last bastion of Hamas, on Aug. 8.

Israel has officially begun its long-planned full takeover of Gaza City, expanding its military operations and forcing thousands of Palestinians to flee, with military officials saying “Gaza is burning.”
Israel’s security cabinet approved the full takeover of Gaza City, which it claims is the last bastion of Hamas, on Aug. 8.
The preparatory stage began on Aug. 20, with the Israeli military launching artillery fire and airstrikes on the outskirts of the city, saying it was “shaping operations” ahead of entering the urban center, where more than 1.3 million Palestinians reside.
On Aug. 29, the Israeli military said it began “preliminary operations and the initial stages” of its attack, adding it will suspend the humanitarian pauses in Gaza City and warned civilians to evacuate.
Israel has also called up more than 60,000 Israeli army reservists to join the operation, according to The New York Post.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, Israeli forces announced the expansion of their military operations inside Gaza City, saying ground troops were moving deeper into the city and that the number of soldiers would rise in coming days to confront up to 3,000 Hamas fighters that Israel claims are still in the city, according to Reuters.
Israeli defense minister Israel Katz said "Gaza is burning" as the offensive began, adding that Israeli forces "are fighting bravely to create the conditions for the release of the hostages and the defeat of Hamas."
Two army divisions have been deployed on the ground, with a third expected to join.
Israeli forces are also using old military vehicles loaded with explosives that have been modified to be controlled remotely and detonated, according to Israeli media.
Israel killed on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at least 75 Palestinians, most of them in Gaza City, according to Reuters.
Thousands of Palestinians are now being forced to leave their home and fleeing south as they face the most intense bombing in nearly two years of Israel’s genocide.
However, many Palestinians are not able to move south due to the high risk and the expensive cost of transport.
Israel has now killed more than 65,062 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children.
