Israel Posted A Video Of It Taking The 12 Activists It Abducted From The Gaza Freedom Flotilla Ship To Israel

The Israeli Foreign Ministry has said that the 12 activists the country's military abducted from the aid ship bound for Gaza will be taken to Israel.

At around 3 am on Monday, June 9, Israeli forces forcibly intercepted and boarded the Madleen, a ship from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) carrying 12 international activists and aid to Gaza to break Israel's siege of the strip, in international waters.

The FFC said that the Israeli military abducted the activists and confiscated the aid, and the coalition lost contact with the activists on board, which included Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Hours later, Israel's Foreign Ministry posted a video on its X account showing Israeli soldiers handing out bread and water to the activists who were seen sitting on a boat.

"All the passengers of the 'selfie yacht' are safe and unharmed. They were provided with sandwiches and water. The show is over," it wrote.

"The tiny amount of aid that wasn’t consumed by the ‘celebrities’ will be transferred to Gaza through real humanitarian channels," it wrote in another tweet. "There are ways to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip — they do not involve provocations and selfies."

Al Jazeera reported that the Israeli government intends to bring the activists to Ashdod port, force them to watch a compilation of videos of the Oct. 7 attack and then deport them to their respective countries.

Israel's seizure of the ship and abduction of the activists has sparked widespread condemnation, with international legal experts, governments, and human rights organizations calling it illegal.
