Israeli Soldiers Were Filmed Dancing As They Demolished Palestinian Homes In The Occupied West Bank
Since October 2023, Israeli forces have demolished more than 2,000 Palestinian homes across the occupied West Bank.
A video of Israeli soldiers filming themselves dancing as they demolished Palestinian homes in the Israeli-occupied West Bank has gone viral, sparking mass criticism.
On Monday, Jan. 12, Israeli forces carried out widespread invasions across the occupied West Bank, including in occupied East Jerusalem, Ramallah, Nablus, Bethlehem and Hebron.
A video circulating online on Tuesday, Jan. 13, showed a group of soldiers filming another soldier dancing while the sound of a tractor or bulldozer can be heard.
Activists said the video was captured in Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, as Israeli forces demolished Palestinians’ homes nearby.
Israeli bulldozers also demolished a water well and a poultry structure, according to TRT.
Human rights groups warned that Israel is using tactics from its genocide in Gaza to seize more territory in the occupied West Bank.
Since October 2023, Israeli forces have demolished more than 2,000 Palestinian homes across the occupied West Bank.
Israel has also approved 19 new illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank in a move that was proposed by Israeli far-right finance minister Bezalel Smotrich and far-right defense minister Israel Katz to continue blocking the establishment of a Palestinian state.
All settlements and outposts in the West Bank are considered illegal and in breach of international law under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
This is because settlements and outposts often seize Palestinians’ lands that were previously used for agriculture or grazing, with Israelis restricting Palestinians’ movement by controlling key roads and checkpoints and increasing settler violence against Palestinians.
In addition, there have been record levels of settler-linked violence in recent years, including attacks on Palestinian farmers and property.
