A new video has gone viral on social media showing Israeli soldiers mocking the destruction in Gaza caused by Israel’s airstrikes, which have reduced vast areas to rubble.
In the video, an Israeli soldier can be seen repeatedly knocking on the door of a house in Gaza and pretends to act confused when no one answers.
“That’s strange. It looks like no one’s home,” the other soldier filming him then says.
The camera then zooms out and shows that the rest of the house has been destroyed with only the front door remaining.
The video provoked a wave of anger on social media, especially on X, formerly known as Twitter, where many people criticized the soldiers’ behavior.
This is not the first time Israeli soldiers have filmed themselves mocking the suffering of Palestinians.
Earlier in December, Israeli soldiers filmed themselves mockingly singing the Islamic call to prayer in a mosque during a raid in Palestine’s occupied West Bank.
The Israeli military subsequently suspended the soldiers, saying the soldiers “acted against IDF codes of conduct within a religious establishment”.
Since Israel declared war on Hamas on Oct. 7, it has killed more than 20,000 Palestinians in Gaza with relentless airstrikes and a ground offensive.
