Israel Has Resumed Bombing Gaza, Violating The Ceasefire And Killing 38 Palestinians Since
Israeli forces claimed that the attacks were in response to “terrorists” firing an anti-tank missile and gunfire toward its troops in Rafah.
Israel is violating the ceasefire in Gaza, launching attacks across Gaza and killing more than 38 people since the first phase of the ceasefire began on Oct. 11.
On Sunday, Oct. 19, Israel launched several attacks on Rafah, southern Gaza, as well as in Gaza City and central Gaza.
Israeli forces claimed that the attacks were in response to “terrorists” firing an anti-tank missile and gunfire toward its troops in Rafah.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had ordered the military to respond forcefully to what he described as Hamas' violations of the ceasefire, according to Reuters.
Hamas has said it is committed to the ceasefire deal, adding that it is not aware of any clashes in Rafah as it is in a Red Zone area that is still under Israeli control, and that it has no communication with its forces in the area.
In central Gaza, specifically in the Al-Zawayda area, an Israeli fighter jet struck a coffee shop in a residential neighborhood, killing five Palestinians and injuring several others.
Earlier on Friday, Oct. 19, Israel had also attacked a bus in Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, killing 11 people from the same family.
The Israeli military said soldiers had fired at a "suspicious vehicle" that had crossed the so-called “yellow line” agreed upon in the ceasefire deal, according to BBC.
Hamas said that Israel has already violated the ceasefire multiple times, including shooting and killing civilians, reducing the amount of aid allowed into Gaza and crossing the agreed upon “yellow line.”
Israel has violated the ceasefire 47 times, killing more than 38 people and injuring more than 147 others since the ceasefire began, according to Gaza’s media office.
