This Freed Israeli Hostage Called Out Israeli Media For Falsely Reporting She Said Hamas Fighters Beat Her
"I was not beaten, rather I was hurt all over my body by the building collapsing on me," Noa Argamani said.
Noa Argamani, a freed Israeli hostage, has issued a statement on Instagram calling out Israeli media for misquoting her and taking her testimony out of context.
26-year-old Argamani, who was freed in June after she was kidnapped by Hamas on Oct. 7, had traveled to Japan with her father to meet with diplomats from G7 countries on Wednesday Aug. 21, to call on for the remaining Israeli hostages to be released.
However, two days later, on Friday Aug. 23, Argamani shared a post on her Instagram stories slamming Israeli media for falsely reporting that she told the diplomats that Hamas had beat her and cut her hair.
"I can't ignore what happened in the last 24 hours; things were taken out of context," she wrote in Hebrew on Instagram.
She clarified that Hamas did not hit her nor cut her hair and that she had been injured as she was in a building that was targeted by the Israeli Air Force.
She said her precise quote was, "At the end of this week, after the shooting, as I said, there were cuts all over my head, and I was hurt all over my body."
She added that she was emphasizing that "I was not beaten, rather I was hurt all over my body by the building collapsing on me."
"As a victim of the 7th of October, I won't allow myself be victimized again, this time by the media," Argamani wrote.
The 26-year-old had been one of the four hostages the Israeli military retrieved during an operation in June that killed 294 Palestinians.
Since being freed, she has been campaigning for the release of the remaining hostages and accompanied Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington D.C., when he addressed the US Congress.
Other hostages' family members and opposition lawmakers had criticized Argamani and her father's decision to accompany Netanyahu as it would bolster the prime minister, who has refused a ceasefire deal for nine months.
After his speech, Argamani had met with Netanyahu and told him that the remaining hostages in Gaza “must be brought home as quickly as possible, before it is too late."
However, he reportedly remained impassive as she broke down in tears, according to the Times of Israel.
