Lawmakers from Italy's Five Star Movement party wore the colors of Palestine's flag during a session in parliament to protest the country's complicity in the genocide.

Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers, Riccardo Ricciardi said they did not fly the Palestine flag because it would get taken down.

"Today, we wear it on our skin because this is no longer just the flag of Palestine. This is the flag of those who fight for humanity," he said.

He said the Italian government was guilty of knowing that it had remained silent and looked the other way while a people was being exterminated.

He said the Italian government had shaken the blood-stained hand of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu by politically and economically supporting Israel's genocide in Gaza.

"You are guilty, and you will forever be guilty, of not being human beings," Ricciardi said.

Israel's genocide in Gaza has now killed more than 61,158 Palestinians since Oct. 7, 2023.
