“How do you call yourself a human being when you stand in silence as innocent civilians are being targeted and killed. Is your peace of mind more important than the children being starved in Gaza?”

K-pop star and former member of South Korean pop rock band DAY6 Jae Park, known as eaJ, closed his concert at Indonesia’s Prambanan Jazz Festival on Friday, July 4, by chanting “Free Palestine”.

At the same time eaJ started shouting “free, free Palestine,” the festival crew released large balloons in the colors of Palestine’s flag as the crowd chanted with him.

The screen on stage also displayed a message saying, “No Child Deserves to Die,” reinforcing eaJ’s support for Palestinians against Israel’s genocide in Gaza, where Israel has killed more than 18,000 children since Oct. 7, 2023.

This is not unusual for eaJ as he long supported Palestine and raised awareness for the struggle of Palestinians under Israel’s occupation since even before Oct. 7.

“How do you call yourself a human being when you stand in silence as innocent civilians are being targeted and killed. Is your peace of mind more important than the children being starved in Gaza?” eaJ wrote in a story on Instagram in May.

He also made headlines in December 2024, when he slammed US president Donald Trump for demanding the immediate release of Israeli hostages who Trump said are being held “violently.”

After Trump threatened "hell to pay" if the hostages were not freed before his inauguration on January 2025, eaJ responded in a tweet, writing “I assume you're talking about Gaza being held hostage “so violently, inhumanely and against the will of the entire world” by the IDF right?”.

eaJ has also called on other artists to speak up for Palestinians in Gaza, saying, “If someone with a platform hasn’t at least [tried] to speak on Gaza they are prioritizing something other than their morality. Come on man, we can do better.”

Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel has killed more than 57,523 Palestinians in Gaza, including 751 while trying to reach aid.
