New footage has emerged showing how the thieves who robbed the Louvre Museum escaped in broad daylight.

On Sunday, Oct.19, France was left stunned after four people took less than eight minutes to break into the Louvre museum in Paris, stealing eight pieces of invaluable jewelry.

According to authorities, the thieves, who wore yellow jackets, conducted the robbery at around 9:30 am and gained access to the museum’s gallery from outside using a stolen vehicle-mounted mechanical lift.

The thieves cut through the window with power tools, then entered a gallery that had no CCTV camera and smashed the displays, taking nine items of the French crown jewels that have been valued between US$816 million to US$933 million, according to the BBC.

The Louvre was closed three days after the robbery, and the thieves are still at large, with authorities launching an investigation to identify them.

Recent footage showed the thieves coming down the lift, with one of them wearing a black mask and a yellow jacket.

During their escape, the thieves dropped one piece of jewelry, Empress Eugénie's crown, which authorities later recovered.

Authorities said the thieves had entered the gallery “calmly” and appeared to be “experienced”.

The case has intrigued the world, with people making TikToks pretending to be the thieves and showing off their stolen goods just hours after the news broke.

People have also tried to recreate the robbery using AI-generated videos of the thieves entering the gallery, which have also gone viral online.

The site of the robbery is now a tourist attraction.

Authorities said if the thieves are attempting to sell the pieces, they may not keep them intact and may even cut the stones to hide the evidence.
