France’s President Called Out Trump For Saying Gaza Is An "Incredible Piece Of Real Estate"
“They are themselves the children, the grandchildren of women and men who lost everything to stay in Gaza. And we cannot erase the history or the geography,” Macron said.

During a visit to Egypt, French President Emmanuel Macron called out US President Donald Trump for saying that Gaza is “an incredible piece of real estate”.
Trump had said on Monday, April 8, that he wanted the US to “own” Gaza as it is an “incredible piece of real estate,” with the plan to turn it into a “freedom zone,” which he described as a no-conflict zone where people “aren’t going to be killed.”
Macron then called out Trump’s remark later in the day as he visited the Egyptian city of Arish near the border with Gaza, saying that if Gaza were a real estate project, then it would just be acquiring units in a construction program and there would never have been a war.
He had visited with Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, injured Palestinians who had evacuated to Egypt for medical treatment, in El-Arish Hospital in North Sinai.
After the visit, Macron said that the injured Palestinians all wished for one thing, which is “to return to Gaza” as soon as they recover.
“Because they are themselves the children, the grandchildren of women and men who lost everything to stay in Gaza. And we cannot erase the history or the geography,” Macron said.
He said that the only solution for peace in the region is to recognize Palestine as a state, calling for a two-state solution.
Macron said that he, Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II, had called for Israel to stop its blockade on Gaza, let humanitarian aid in and resume the ceasefire.
The three leaders also discussed on a call with Trump about implementing a 40 to 50 day truce, including a halt in fighting, hostages exchange and discussing the governance of Gaza post-war.
Since resuming its genocide on March 18, Israel has killed more than 1,482 Palestinians, many of whom are children.
