French President Emmanuel Macron’s Wife Was Seen Shoving Him In The Face Before They Got Off A Plane

French president Emmanuel Macron was caught on camera being shoved in the face by his wife Brigitte Macron.

The video, shot by AP as the couple was exiting the plane upon their arrival in Hanoi, Vietnam, to start their southeast Asia tour on Sunday, May 25, showed Brigitte shoving both her hands against Macron’s face as the doors of their plane opened.

Macron appeared startled from the interaction and stepped back away from the door, but he quickly recovered and waved at the cameras.

"It was a moment where the president and his wife were decompressing one last time before the start of the trip by horsing around”, a spokesperson said.

The video was widely shared online, sparking speculations about the couple’s relationship, with people suggesting Macron is being subjected to “domestic abuse” and saying that he needs help, especially with the age gap between the two.

Macron and Brigitte met when she was a 39-year-old teacher at school in northern France, when Macron, 15 at the time, developed feelings for her.

After years of complications, they eventually married in 2007, according to People magazine.

On May 26, Macron personally addressed the incident, telling reporters that the footage was misinterpreted and that they were just “joking around” and blamed Russian and French extremists for creating conspiracies and disinformation from the footage.

“There are people who have watched videos and think I shared a bag of cocaine, that I had a fight with the Turkish president, and that now I'm having a domestic dispute with my wife…none of these are true,” he added.
