Mahmoud Khalil is a green card holder and married to a US citizen.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has kidnapped Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestine student at Columbia University, and people are demanding justice.
Khalil was a graduate student at Columbia university in New York City and played a key role in the pro-Palestine students encampments.
He had been facing an intense doxxing campaign calling for his deportation.
Khalil had asked Columbia for support but the school did not respond.
He was then taken by US immigration despite being a legal permanent resident.
Trump said Khalil is linked to Hamas and that he is trying to deport him.
He also said that "this is the first arrest of many to come".
After his arrest, hundreds of people gathered outside outside the New York City Courthouse on March 12 to demand Khalil's release.
Almost spoke to some of the protesters who gathered about why they decided to come out.
One of the protesters called Khalil's arrest an "act of terrorism", saying that he had done nothing wrong and only utillized his free speech to gather support for Palestine.
Another protester said that US is seeing "fascism in real time", adding that Khalil holds a green card and had done nothing illegal.
