A Thai beauty pageant contestant has gone viral for breaking into a full hip hop routine during a swimsuit segment at Miss Grand Thailand while everyone else was doing a graceful walk.
Miss Grand Thailand is Thailand's national beauty pageant where one contestant from each of Thailand's 77 provinces competes for the title to represent Thailand at Miss Grand International, a global pageant held annually.
During the swimsuit segment in the preliminary round on March 28, 26-year-old Dada Darathorn Yoothon caught everyone off guard, going all out with fast-paced, hip hop-inspired moves and exaggerated expressions.
As the swimsuit segment is usually elegant, measured and choreographed to blend in with the lineup, Yoothong shook the audience, who later broke into applause. Yoothong, a professional dancer, regularly posts choreography and stage performances on Instagram.
The moment went viral, with people praising her for just being herself on a stage where most people aren't.
“Wow so cool👏 she so genuine she’s just being ‘her’ 🔥 like her,” one person wrote, Parade.com reported.
“Just give her the crown,” another person wrote.
Others pointed out that doing those moves in heels, on a polished stage, without falling, was itself an athletic achievement.
Her performance was nicknamed the "Kalasin Strut" after the province she was representing.
Yoothong placed in the Top 20 at the final.
The winner of Miss Grand Thailand 2026 was Pattama Jitsawat, representing Chonburi province, who is set to represent Thailand at the 2026 Miss Grand International pageant in India.
