The Head Of NATO Referred To Trump As "Daddy" While Discussing His Role In The Israel And Iran War

NATO mark rutte call trump daddy iran israel war

In a bizarre interaction with US president Donald Trump, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte referred to Trump as “daddy”.

The moment happened during a press conference at the 2025 NATO Summit in The Hague, the Netherlands, on Wednesday, June 25, when Rutte, the former prime minister of the Netherlands, and Trump were discussing the 12 days of war between Israel and Iran that ended with a ceasefire on Tuesday, June 24.

During the press conference, as Rutte praised Trump's decision to bomb Iran's three nuclear sites, Trump compared it to when the US used atomic bombs against the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing more than 200,000 people.

"I don't want to use an example of Hiroshima, I don't want to use an example of Nagasaki, but that was essentially the same thing. That ended that war. This ended the war," Trump said.

He then compared Israel and Iran to "two kids in a schoolyard" fighting, saying that sometimes you have to let them fight before stepping in to stop them.

"They fight like hell, you can't stop them. Let them fight for about two to three minutes, then it's easy to stop them," Trump said.

Rutte then jokingly said that “daddy has to sometimes use strong language” to get them to stop.

The White House then shared a video on X with Usher's "Daddy's Home" song in the background of Trump arriving at NATO.

“He did it very affectionately, daddy, you’re my daddy,” Trump said in another press conference when he was asked about the incident. "I think he likes me. If he doesn't, I'll let you know and I'll hit him hard.”
