Netanyahu Said Israel Will Keep Striking Both Iran And Lebanon While The US Negotiates A Deal With Iran
“We are smashing the missile program and the nuclear program, and we continue to severely strike Hezbollah,” Netanyahu said.
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said US President Donald Trump believes a deal to end the war with Iran is possible, but Israel will keep attacking Lebanon and Iran at the same time.
On Monday, March 23, Trump announced the US was negotiating with Iran to end the war and postponed strikes on Iran’s power plants by five days after what he called productive conversations.
Later on Monday, Netanyahu said he spoke with Trump, who he said “believes there is an opportunity” to reach an agreement with Iran and protect Israel’s “vital interests” but vowed to continue to strike in both Iran and Lebanon while the US negotiates a deal.
“We are smashing the missile program and the nuclear program, and we continue to severely strike Hezbollah,” Netanyahu said, adding, “We will safeguard our vital interests in any situation."
Since Israel and the US launched their joint unprovoked war on Iran on Feb. 28 and assassinated Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, at least 1,937 people have been killed and 24,800 injured by US-Israeli attacks, according to Al Jazeera.
At the same time, Israel has also been striking Lebanon and issuing “leave or die” evacuation orders to parts of the country after Hezbollah retaliated for the assassination of Khamenei, who Hezbollah considers its spiritual leader.
Since then, Israel pushed its ground troops further into southern Lebanon, occupying Lebanese territory and attacking Lebanon, including the capital Beirut, killing more than 1,094 people in the country and forcing hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes.
