Singer Olivia Rodrigo Donated All Ticket Sales From Her Biggest Concert In The Philippines To A Women’s Rights Charity
As part of her Fund 4 Good initiative, Rodrigo has been donating a portion of all ticket sales from her “GUTS” world tour to various nonprofits supporting women’s rights.
Olivia Rodrigo, the Filipina American singer-songwriter best known for her hit “Driver’s License,” recently held her first concert in the Philippines and donated all proceeds to a women’s rights and health charity in the country.
The concert, held at Philippine Arena, the largest mixed-used indoor theater in the world, located just outside of the capital, Manila was also Rodrigo’s first visit to the country, where her grandparents are from.
The concert, held at Bocaue’s Philippine Arena on Oct. 5, was sold out to 55,000 attendees at markedly lower ticket prices of US$27.
As part of her Fund 4 Good initiative to support girls’ education, reproductive rights and preventing gender-based violence, Rodrigo has been donating a portion of all ticket sales from her “GUTS” world tour to various nonprofits supporting women’s rights, such as charities supporting abortion rights in the US and ending violence against women and children in Europe.
For her first and biggest concert in the Philippines, Rodrigo chose to donate all the revenue to Jhpiego, a nonprofit that helps women and families worldwide with reproductive healthcare access, HIV/AIDS and infectious disease prevention, education and more.
Rodrigo described the concert as “the most special show and the most meaningful trip” in a post on Instagram, writing, “To say I’m grateful doesn’t even cut it.”
Besides visiting the charity’s office in Manila, Rodrigo wore a “Pinoy Pride” tank top and a sash that read “Miss So Filipina” to showcase her Filipina heritage during her concert.
She also changed the lyrics to her song, “So American”, to “When I’m with you guys, I’m feeling so Filipino”.
