At least 101 people are dead and more than 225 others injured in Pakistan after a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a mosque in Peshawar on Monday Jan. 30.
More than 300 worshippers, mostly police officers, had been inside.
A faction of the Pakistan Taliban initially claimed responsibility for the attack, but it was later denied by a group spokesman.
The blast caused the roof and walls of the mosque to collapse, trapping people underneath.
The attack, which took place in an area with many important government and military buildings, is one of the deadliest in Pakistan in recent years.
Officials say they are investigating how the suicide bomber got through multiple security points to reach the mosque.
The attack has raised concerns that the Pakistan Taliban could be regaining power after the Afghan Taliban’s takeover of nearby Afghanistan.
Peshawar had been the center of Pakistan’s conflict against the Pakistani Taliban, known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, until most TTP fighters and other militants were driven out of the region in 2015.
