A Palestinian boy in Gaza has shared a wholesome video capturing his reaction to Israel and Hamas agreeing to the first phase of a ceasefire deal.

The video of the boy, named Abdullah Almajaida, was shared on the Instagram of his older brother, Ashraf, a university student in Gaza, on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 9, hours after the news was announced.

Abdallah went viral at the beginning of the genocide when he shared a video of him struggling to find a place with electricity to charge his brother’s phone.

He frequently shares videos documenting his struggles of finding food, water, and electricity in Gaza and shared a touching video capturing his reaction to the temporary truce in November 2023.

In the short video, Abdallah shared how there was finally no sounds of warplanes and drones in the skies of Gaza.

“I am very happy,” he said. “But God willing, our joy will last.”

US president Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of his ceasefire proposal in the early hours of Thursday.

Qatar said on X that the two sides reached an agreement on the first phase, which will lead to ending the war, releasing the Israeli hostages and Palestinians held in Israeli prisons and aid entering Gaza, adding that more details will be announced later.

According to the plan, the war will immediately end if the two sides agree to the proposal, with all military operations being suspended.

Israeli forces will withdraw to an agreed upon line to prepare for the hostage release, and Hamas will return all Israeli hostages, both alive and dead.

In exchange, Israel will release 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and 1,700 Palestinians it detained since Oct. 7, 2023.

For each dead Israeli hostage, Israel will release the bodies of 15 dead Palestinians.

48 Israeli hostages are still held in Gaza, 20 of whom are believed to still be alive.

Trump is expected to travel to Egypt in the coming days.

Some details, such as the full timeline of Israeli troops’ withdrawal, Gaza governance after the war and the conditions around Hamas’ disarmament, are still being negotiated.
