This Polish Woman Is Claiming She Is Missing British Toddler Madeleine McCann And People Are Divided
Julia Wendell’s Instagram has gained more than 863,000 followers in less than a week.
A 21-year-old Polish woman has gained widespread attention after she started sharing what she said was evidence proving she is the missing British toddler Madeleine McCann.
Three-year-old McCann disappeared while on holiday in Portugal with her family in 2007 in a case that spark worldwide interest.
@iammadelelinemccan, the Instagram account of Julia Wendell – who has also been identified as Julia Faustyna and Julia Wandelt – has gained more than 644,000 followers in less than a week.
On it, Wendell has been sharing photos and videos comparing what she said was similarities between herself and McCann.
McCann had been on holiday in Portugal from the UK with her parents and two younger twin siblings in 2007.
Her parents left the children to sleep in an apartment in Praia da Luz at 8:30 pm and went to dine with friends in a restaurant 55 meters away.
The adults checked on the children throughout the evening until McCann’s mom discovered she had gone missing at 10 pm.
Throughout the years, there have been numerous theories and suspects, including a botched burglary, child trafficking, involvement from her parents and a Portuguese predator.
On her Instagram account, Wendell said she has no memory of her childhood due to being sexually abused by a pedophile, who she said looks like one of the facial composites of a suspect in McCann’s case.
Wendell shared photos saying she has a gap in her front teeth, as well as a similar mark in her right eye as McCann and her face, ears and lips are also similar in shape.
Wendell said in a post on Monday Feb. 20 she had spoken to someone from McCann’s family and McCann’s parents had agreed to a DNA test, which will be done “soon”.
A source allegedly close to the McCanns told the Daily Star Sunday the family are “taking no chances” and want to look at all leads.
There has been no official comment from the McCanns.
