In a rare move, Prince William has called for an end to the war in Gaza, saying that too many “people have been killed”.
Typically, members of the British royal family refrain from expressing opinions on political matters.
On Tuesday, Feb. 20, Prince William issued a statement saying that the “sheer scale of human suffering” has highlighted the urgent need for a permanent peace.
The 41-year-old also called for aid to be allowed into Gaza, and for Hamas to release all hostages taken on Oct. 7.
He made the statement before visiting the British Red Cross in London to learn about its efforts to provide humanitarian aid in Gaza.
At the beginning of the war in October, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton had issued a statement condemning Hamas
In 2018, William made history as the first British royal to officially visit Israel and the Israel-occupied Palestinian West Bank, meeting with leaders from both sides.
