Tens Of Thousands Of People In Romania Held Its Biggest Ever Pride March To Celebrate LGBTQ Rights
Romania’s capital Bucharest held its biggest Pride march ever, with 25,000 people in attendance.
Tens of thousands of people in Romania held its biggest ever Pride march for LGBTQ rights.
Organizers said about 25,000 people attended the parade in the capital, Bucharest.
Protesters danced and waved rainbow flags to demand equal rights for the LGBTQ community.
Same-sex marriage and civil partnerships are currently still illegal in Romania, which is largely socially conservative.
But in May 2023, the European Court of Human Rights found that the country was violating LGBTQ people’s rights by not recognizing same-sex marriage.
This came after 21 same-sex couples sued the country for denying them the same rights as heterosexual couples.
The pride march was the biggest celebration since the first pride parade took place in the country in 2005.
