Spain Has Closed Its Airspace To All US Military Planes Involved In Any Operation Related To The War On Iran
US military planes must now go around Spain to reach the Middle East and may only use Spain’s airspace in case of an emergency.
Spain has closed its airspace to all US military planes involved in attacking Iran.
After the US and Israel launched joint unprovoked strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, Spain became one of the most vocal opponents of the war, with Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez warning the war risked "playing Russian roulette with the fate of millions of people."
Shortly after, Spain banned the US from using jointly operated naval and air bases in the country for any operation “inconsistent with the United Nations”, prompting US President Donald Trump to threaten to cut all trade with Spain.
On Monday, March 30, Spain’s defense minister, Margarita Robles, said the government will also no longer allow any US planes to use Spain’s airspace for attacks on Iran.
"We don't authorize either the use of military bases or the use of airspace for actions related to the war in Iran," Robles told reporters, according to Reuters.

The US and Israel’s war on Iran has now entered its fifth week, with Israel advancing into Lebanon.
Though Trump has allegedly said the US is negotiating with Iran, Iran has repeatedly denied it, saying the US is “negotiating with itself.”
At least 1,937 people have been killed and 24,800 injured by US-Israeli attacks in Iran, according to Al Jazeera.
