This Baby Penguin In Australia Named Pesto Is An Absolute Unit And People Are Obsessed With Him

Zoo animals are taking over the internet spotlight once again, and this time people are obsessing over a fat baby king penguin in Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium in Australia.

The nine-month-old penguin named Pesto stands out among the usual black and white penguins with his brown and fluffy feathers, easily towering over his own kind.

While the average king penguin weighing about 9.3 to 18 kilograms, Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium told Almost that Pesto weighs 23.5 kilograms as of Wednesday, making him the heaviest baby penguin the aquarium has ever seen.

According to the aquarium, Pesto’s weight and size is due to a number of factors, including good genes, as his father is the oldest and biggest king penguin in the facility.

He also has a good appetite, eating 25 fish a day.

The aquarium said Pesto is expected to slim down after he “fledges”, or develops his adult feathers.

On social media, people have posted videos visiting the king penguin exhibit at the Sea Life aquarium, often paired with audio clips such as, “I would like to see the baby!”

Videos also show him waddling right behind his foster mother

People have described him as an “absolute unit”, a “big boi” and a “fatty”, hoping that he never sheds his feathers and remains big and fluffy forever.
